It can be easily identified by checking moderately thin body, green color of dorsal, head like other cat snakes. In juveniles its coloration is reddish-brown except head which is of green color.

Maximum length- Male: 177cm, Female: 187cm.
Laterally flattened long body. Scales smooth, long shaped and obliquely arranged. Top dosral scales along the vertebra larger than side scales and of hexagonal shape. Dorsal color uniform green or green mixed with grayish or bluish. In juveniles up to 9-10 month age bear green color head while rest of dorsal body reddish-brown or ochre. Interscale color black, also head and few dorsal scales edged with the same color.
Belly color greenish or yellowish white. Subcaudal scales paired in zig-zag manner.
Head triangular with rounded edge; clearly broader than neck. Top of the head usually similar to dorsal color or sometimes of brownish tint. Upper lip color yellowish; most of head scaled margined with black. Eyes large of gray color, with vertically elliptical pupil.
Long and thin tail typically like other arboreal snakes with pointed tip.
